For Every Mother: Saving Lives in Burkina Faso

A blog by Dr Sophia Webster.

This week we are pleased to post a link to the lastest blog by Dr Sophia Webster who is now on Day 33 of her amazing Flight for Every Mother journey across Africa to promote maternal health.

This blog details her recent visait to a district hospital in Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso. Sophia is not only piloting her own plane, she is also delivering vital medical supplies to the places she visits and offering free training to medical professionals which will help them save lives on a daily basis. Whilst running some practical teaching sessions at this hospital Sophia also got to use her skills to help a mother who needed assistance deliver a healthy baby boy.

28 Too Many are delighted to be a partner charity for Flight for Every Mother. Women who have had FGM have a much higher risk of medical complications during childbirth and it is vital that medical professionals working with these women have access to the right knowledge and training. Sophia is inspiring others to take action on maternal health issues and making a difference in each of the stops on her journey - saving lives and delivering healthy babies.

You can learn more about Sophia and her incredible journey at the Flight for Every Mother website.
