OxLWOB and 28 Too Many Panel Collaboration on FGM
Oxford University Student Division of Lawyers Without Borders (OxLWOB) and anti-FGM charity 28 Too Many announce a new research collaboration on female genital mutilation (FGM).
These two organisations will bring together an interdisciplinary team of undergraduate and postgraduate researchers to develop country profiles, analyse comparative legal frameworks and identify ethnic myths associated with FGM in the 28 African countries where FGM is traditionally practised. The first panel will start research in the next few weeks and will share initial research findings in June.
“This is an exciting opportunity to harness the passion and commitment to help end FGM of students at Oxford University. Knowledge and understanding of FGM is essential to break through the barriers that prevent the abandonment of this ancient practice and so we are delighted to be able to partner with OxLWOB on this project,” comments Dr Ann-Marie Wilson, 28 Too Many founder and Executive Director.
